The consequences of disobeying and lying

Joseph has lost the priveledge of riding his bike for 3 days. First, he disobeyed me. We were planning to go to Kidstowne, but I didn’t want to walk, so I told Joseph that he could not bring his bike. I don’t let him ride his bike at Kidstowne, just to Kidstowne when we go there.

I get out to the van and the stroller is in the inside of the van (was in the back). Joseph had his bike helmet with him and I said, “why do you have your helmet.” He said, “oh, I forgot”. Then, I said “where is your bike” I already had a suspicion at this point.

His response was “In the back yard.” I said, “Don’t lie to me. Where is your bike.” He said “in the back.”

So, not only did he disobey, because I’d distinctly told him we were not going to bring his bike, he also put it in the van without permission (knowing he’s not supposed to because of the recent repairs!) and he lied about where his bike was.

What did he think? That I wasn’t going to notice him getting the bike out of the van at Kidstowne?!?!?! This one goes in the stupid criminals file. 🙂

In any case, he did not get to go to Kidstowne, the girls and I did though. He had to spend the hour in his room (during which time, he fell asleep!) And he has lost bike privs for 3 days.

Oh well. Live and learn.
