Joseph’s Birthday Party Part 1

His day started with the pictures, lead to Burger King for lunch (his choice) and ToysRUs to spend what he thought was his only birthday present — $50 shopping spree of his choice. He ended up spending $30 on Beyblades and a new arena… which he just loves!

Afterward, we returned home where I told him I had to go out to the grocery store to get the cake. That was true, but I also had to make one more stop on the way. 🙂

Joseph had his friends Aaron and Brandon over for birthday party festivities, part 1. Between the three of them and the 5 hours they were together, they had a blast.

Part of the time was spent playing Super Mario Sunshine on the Nintendo. Another was slip-and-sliding. Another was riding bikes … including Joseph’s new bike. In the same way my mom did for my sister (I honestly don’t remember doing one of these myself) and Joseph just last year, I hatched a plan for a little treasure hunt to find the hidden bike.

I handed him clue #1 which said something like this…

What’s brown?
What’s taller than it is wide?
What no longer swings but does still slide?

That lead him to the swingset where he found clue #2… which said,

There is no room to walk.
There is no room to play.
It’s from 11pm to 11am where you stay.

As the loud, rambunctious boys were making there way in… Emi covered her eyes!

On the shelf sat clue #3. It took them a while to find because it was in a whie envelope on the bookshelf. I had to “help” a little in pointing them to it.

Clue 3 read,

A card may be found in it.
A package might too.
Out by the flag is where you’ll find the next clue!

That lead them to the mailbox. I could see the wheels turning as they read and tried to think what it meant. 🙂

Clue #4 found! It read,

It’s exercise by name. But you and i can’t fit in it. Round and yellow and Emi and Abby’s favorite baby game.

Now, this one threw them for a loop.

First the went to baby jail, but weren’t thinking about the round and the exercise in the clue. It took a bit and a few hints from Ron and I to point them to the exersaucer in E&A’s room.

Once there, they found clue #5… the last one. It read,

What’s red & big & holds 7 people? That’s where your treasure is!

Brandon apparently called out ‘van’ as soon as Joseph read the word red. 🙂

And in the van was the treasure!

Once out, they were off to play with it.

After biking, they hit the slip and slide…

An hour later it was time for pizza and rootbeer.

And a bit later… cake!

E&A had cake too and this is what Emi did while eating.

All in all, the boys had a blast, Joseph had a great birthday and the girls were wiped out!
