1 month old!

The girls are officially 1 month old today. Let’s see what’s happened so far…

They were born early, at 35 weeks gestation. They then spent 19 days in the NICU and 1 further day at the hospital in a rooming-in situation. Then, we were home for 5 days when Abby (and thus us all) had to return to the hospital for her pyloric stenosis, adding another 4 days in a hospital. Now, we’ve been home a total of 3 days again.

So, adding that up, in their months so far, 24 days (or parts thereof) were in a hospital and only 8 days have been at home. This is definately something I would never have expected!

Both girls, however, are doing very well, gaining weight, eating like little piggies, etc. Emily still has lots of problems with bottles — she coughs and gags too much so we’re still trying to find the right nipple for her. She does not have that problem when she nurses, but I’ll only be around for her to nurse from for another 4-5 weeks, so she’s going to have to figure it out!

Abby is not quite the piggy, too. She’s making up for her week without enough food. Guess that’s a good thing, though!
